The Square Peg - Original Russian Movie Poster
Photo-collage poster designed to promote John Paddy Carstairs’s hugely popular British war comedy in Russian cinemas. Set during the Second World War, the film follows the hapless Norman Pitkin after he is accidentally sent behind enemy lines and discovers his remarkable resemblance to a German general. One of Wisdom’s greatest commercial successes, the film also became particularly popular with Soviet audiences. This rare small-format poster features a lively monochrome photographic composition typical of Soviet cinema advertising of the period.
