Luna 16 - Original Russian Space Propaganda Poster

Soviet space propaganda poster celebrating the historic Luna 16 mission of 1970, the first robotic spacecraft to successfully land on the Moon, collect lunar soil and return the sample to Earth. Its automatic drill collected approximately 101 grams of lunar material, remarkably carrying out the sampling operation in complete darkness after sunset at the landing site.

The design transforms the spacecraft into a monumental, almost surreal space robot holding the Moon in one hand. Paired with the slogan, “Glory to Labour! Glory to Science! This Is Our Mind, These Are Our Hands!”, the image presents technology as an extension of collective human intelligence and labour.
