Soyuz 28 - Original Russian Poster

A vibrant DONA collective poster celebrating the historic Soyuz 28 mission of 1978, flown by Soviet cosmonaut Aleksei Gubarev and Czechoslovak cosmonaut Vladimír Remek. The flight was the first crewed mission of the Interkosmos program and made Remek the first non-Soviet, non-American person to travel into space.

The two cosmonauts appear beneath a sweeping Soviet-Czechoslovak composition that transforms the national colors into a rocket-like form rising through the stars — a bold symbol of socialist international cooperation in space. Hand screen-printed on heavy paper stock, the poster combines DONA’s vivid colors and direct graphic language with the optimism of the Interkosmos era.

The slogan roughly reads: “To the orbit of courage — Interkosmos, higher! The brotherhood of nations — stronger, brighter, higher!”

Agitplakat Dona was a poster collective established in Rostov-on-Don in the early 1960s, bringing together artists and writers whose designs were subsequently distributed throughout the Soviet Union.
